About Us

Our Mission & History

Members of the American Subcontractors Association of Arizona and the Arizona State Contractors Coalition formed Arizonans for Fair Contracting in 2016 to serve as a united voice for Arizona contractors who were sick and tired of paying for the mistakes of other contractors. When one trade made a mistake, all the contractors on the job could be held liable – regardless of fault.

This only added to the complexities associated with running a construction business in Arizona. Not only did this increase costs unnecessarily, it reduced safety on the job site, lead to frivolous lawsuits, and required contractors to purchase more liability insurance than is needed for a project.

In order to address unfair risk transfer laws and other issues impacting Arizona’s construction industry Arizonans for Fair Contracting began working with Senate President Karen Fann to put an end to this inherently unfair practice.

In the 2019 Legislative Session, President Fann introduced SB 1271, and successfully championed the bill through the legislative process

Governor Doug Ducey signed SB 1271 into law on April 10, 2019.

In the wake of this historic legislative victory, it was clear that Arizona’s construction industry would benefit from Arizonans for Fair Contracting and its ongoing advocacy efforts.

As a grassroots organization, Arizonans for Fair Contracting and its supporters will continue to support Arizona’s construction industry by advocating for fairness in contracting, and working to ensure that the business environment for all members of the construction team is fair and equitable.

Please join us in advocating for Arizona Contractors!
